How to Play
Mini Ultimate is a fast-paced, small-sided variation of Ultimate played 3-on-3 on a much smaller field. It keeps many of the fundamentals of Ultimate – throwing, catching, cutting, marking and Spirit of the Game – but removes much of the space and downtime.
The smaller field means players are constantly involved. There are fewer places to hide, cuts develop quickly, throwing windows are smaller, and possession can change in an instant. Mini is an excellent game for developing quick decision-making, fundamental throws, communication and one-on-one offensive and defensive skills.
Mini Ultimate was created by Brion Winston and David Hollander of New York Ultimate in 1999 and has since been played by Ultimate players around the world.
